RE: WATER QUALITY ADVISORY FOR RIVERVALE WATER SYSTEM
Issued: April 28th 2025
Residents are advised that the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) is issuing a Water Quality Advisory due to higher than normal turbidity. The recent precipitation and warm weather has caused higher turbidity.
The Province of B.C. and RDKB recommends when turbidity levels range from 1-5 NTU, Interior Health Authority (IH) that children, the elderly, people with compromised immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection drink boiled water or a safe alternative.
How much turbidity is acceptable?
IH has the following ratings for turbidity levels related to water quality. GOOD - 0 to 1 NTU FAIR - 1 to 5 NTU POOR - 5 NTU and above
As of April 28th 2025 the turbidity of the Rivervale Water System is 1.5 NTU. The Water Quality is considered to be Fair.
The RDKB apologizes for any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks you in advance for your cooperation. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the RDKB main offices at (250) 368-9148.
Thank you,
Goran Denkovski
